Orientation Advisors

Orientation advisors are undergraduate volunteers from the student body responsible for aiding new and transfer students in their transition to the University of Richmond. The Westhampton College orientation advisors are responsible for:

  • Attending and actively participating in the orientation advisor training program.
  • Acquainting new and transfer students with campus services, activities, and facilities and encouraging them to fully participate in the University environment.
  • Working closely with Richmond College orientation advisors to effectively lead new and transfer students.
  • Giving campus tours to new and transfer students and their parents.
  • Participating in the evaluation process of the orientation advisor training program and of orientation itself.
  • Performing additional job responsibilities as assigned. 

Qualifications to be an Orientation Advisor:

  • Be in good academic (2.5 minimum cumulative GPA) and disciplinary standing.
  • Understand and demonstrate a belief in the mission of Westhampton College and the University of Richmond’s orientation program.
  • Relate well with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Be reliable, responsible, confident, flexible, willing to help, and have strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn about the University.
  • Be available for training sessions during the spring and fall semesters.
